About Us

We are a 100% mexican company, founded by Denisse Ainalen.

PEYOTL® manages to transmute ancient Mexican cultural expressions to modern life. The first Mexican cultures are the Nahua, Mayan, Aztec and Olmec, the inspiration we take from them is their wisdom, spirituality and their crafts.

PEYOTL® and the name of the products are mostly in Nahuatl. Currently both the Wixarricas and Nahuas, to name a few, inhabit different parts of Mexico and the USA.

PEYOTL®, name of the brand in Nahuatl and known today as PEYOTE; it is a small, spineless cactus that grows a flower, usually pink, at the top and it's divided into segments.

Peyote is very important in national folklore because it is elementary to practice spiritual rituals that were done annually. The consumption of peyote during these rituals is due to the fact that it has the effect of sharpening the senses such as sight and touch, but not only speaking of the hands, it is said that some people come to feel how the air touches their skin and that being under the effects of peyote, colors and textures are perceived with greater intensity and definition. Ancient Mexican cultures believed that the gods spoke to them many times through colors. It is there where the interest arises to sharpen the senses, being seen as a spiritual ritual.

MISSION

PEYOTL®'s mission is inspired by the beautiful initiative to bring to life unique creations made from the heart to unite people, origins, stories, cultures and colors and promote the creation of opportunities for highly skilled artisans throughout Mexico.

OUR HISTORY

PEYOTL® was created in 2015 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, by Denisse Ainalen. She is a proudly Mexican woman who studied Industrial Design at the University of Guadalajara.

PEYOTL® arose during a stage of her life that she defines as "the night", being in the middle of the Master in Design and Development of New Products and during an emotional, professional and spiritual crisis.

PEYOTL® was created because Denisse believed that her feet were very ugly, however, she spent days observing other feet and realized that her feet were not so ugly but that there were no designs that created harmony with them. PEYOTL®It is a company that was born with a capital of $2,000 pesos on loan, because at that time she was living alone, was unemployed, without savings and having finished a 10-year courtship.

Denisse found motivation by believing in her roots and she has led PEYOTL® to have a catalog of more than twenty products in different colors and sizes available in its stock, in addition to having achieved international shipments and having distributors such as Amazon handmade, Liverpool and luxury hotel chains.
